Keep Dish Disaster at Bay:

A Sparkling Clean Dishwasher is Just a Wash Away

60% of Canadians own a dishwasher. Let’s properly learn how to clean it:

  • Remove any visible debris by inspecting the dishwasher’s bottom and the areas surrounding the door’s edges.
  • Next, use a cloth dipped in water and a tiny bit of dish soap to gently wipe clean the sprayer arm and the seals.
  • Clear out any food particles that might have become lodged in the dishwasher’s drain or filter.
  • Look up the location of the filter in the appliance manual if you are unsure. If the filter is detachable, clean it with warm, soapy water, rinse it, and then replace it.
  • To clean your dishwasher, you can also use dishwashing cleansers and activate a hot water cycle.
  • Don’t forget to clean the dishwasher’s exterior, and if your dishwasher is stainless steel, there are designed cleaners for it!

Do not clean your dishwasher bleach!

Bleach and cleansers containing bleach should not be used, particularly if the dishwasher’s interior is stainless steel. In order to get rid of tea and coffee stains from cups and other dinnerware, certain dishwasher detergents contain bleach. Never mix vinegar and bleach together, as this could result in the potentially toxic chlorine gas.
